Upgrading from FlatFile

Congratulations on your decision to upgrade to the DataBase version of AllAffiliatePro. You can now benefit from the increased performance and feature set.

Please follow this step by step guide to upgrade AllAffiliatePro.

Step 1.

Install AllAffiliatePro DataBase to a folder other than the FlatFile version. We suggest a folder named "affiliate2". Please not that this folder must be in the same main folder as your current "affiliate" folder. o that "affiliate2" can be renamed to "affiliate" later to replace it.

Step 2.

Follow the getting started guide and documenation to setup AllAffiliatePro DataBase the way you require. You must ensure that AllAffiliatePro is configured and runing exactly the way you need it to be before you can proceed to replace the old system.

Step 3.

If you want it is possible to run both programs at the same time. This way you can ensure the system is working correctly before the final change. To do this integrate the new AllAffiliatePro and follow step 4 below selecting not to email affiliates, ignoring step 5 until later. Then you can check if the system is tracking sales or generating errors.

Step 4.

Using your browser open the file oldtonew.cgi:-

Follow the onscreen instructions to input the old FlatFile data folder path, and select whether to notify affiliates. Due to a change of file saving and encryption between FlatFile and DataBase all affiliate passwords are reset to a unique temporary value. This email includes their new password which they can change from your affiliate login area. If you want to test the data is transfered correctly before informing affiliates you can select not to email affiliates. !IMPORTANT! If you choose to test the data before upgrading you need to wipe the database before upgrading and emailing affiliates again. Removing affiliates from admin is not enough, you must wipe all the records in each of the database tables.

Step 5.

Rename the old affiliate folder to "affiliateold" then rename the new affiliate folder to "affiliate". Your affiliate program has now been upgraded.
